November was stablished by the Junior High English Academy as the month of the “English Intercultural Experience”. It has been a difficult time, but we consider that Social Distancing has given us the opportunity to learn that teamwork is one of the tools that seriously helps us to deal with the inconveniences that the pandemic has brought to our lives. Students had the opportunity to learn more about countries around the world. Cultural, traditional, and historical aspects that we might not know about places where English is spoken, not necessarily as an official language.
Students were very enthusiastic to prepare and present videos designed with their classmates including information about touristic places, typical food, famous people, and some extra quality information. Teachers assisted them in the preparation of the videos, so students would have the chance to show excellent knowledge of the content, avoiding hesitation in the use of language. They could also work with different apps to present the final videos. This exercise proves that culture, knowledge, and technology can be coordinated to be applied in the educational process and directly in the acquisition of a second language.
This time, we offer you a set of videos to show the language speaking abilities of the Junior High La Salle Benavente students.
