Junior High and High School Languages Coordinator.
On May 11th, within the ”Día de Idiomas” activities, Benavente Junior High students participated in the English Intercultural Experience. The event took place in the facilities of the Fray Toribio de Benavente Library. After an intense previous investigation, students presented cultural aspects of some english speaking countries around the world. This time, countries like South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand, India, Australia, England, and Canada were chosen.
Students applied the english language to explain aspects like the reasons why the countries originally got such names. In the case of the location of the country in the world, they also included its boundaries, hydrography, geography, the traditional costume they wear. In the touristic branch, students informed and reccomended some specific cities, places, and buildings to visit in case we have the opportunity to travel there. Famous people from those countries were also included. They mentioned general aspects of the person´s life and remarked why he or she is meant to be indispensable in the country´s history and culture. A remarkable point was the inclusión and presentation of gastronomy. In this case, visitors were explained the ingredients and the cooking or baking process of the most important dishes and desserts of the country.
The Languages Academy honestly believes this was an excellent opportunity for students to perform what they have learnt through the schoolyear. Colegio Benavente proudly supports and recognizes the enthusiasm of junior high students in the development and performance of this project and invites you to be our special guest in the next intercultural experience! See you there!
