Benavente High School proudly held the Model United Nations BENAMUN 2018 on April 19th and 20th. In this yearly event, students are provided with the opportunity to familiarize with the use of the international protocol for discussing global issues and the correspondent rules that must be observed during appropriate debate sessions. This democratic exercise is meant to improve learners’ communication skills by means of the investigation and shared reflection of current political, economic and cultural issues, as it is done in the real United Nations Organization committees in New York. In this manner, students can practice and thus develop their ability to present, propose, defend and convince others with valid arguments while adopting the role of a national delegate in the UNO.
This occasion, participants integrated in five committees:
- Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) in spanish
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- Disarmament and international security (DISC)
- Security Council (SC)
- Human Rights (HR).
Benavente, in the spirit of Lasallian schools, aims to promote the talent of students and offers this activity that serves as a means to encourage young people to pursue their dreams, which may be the way to the construction of a better world for themselves and for the rest of the inhabitants of our home planet, Earth.
